Our Awards
Rewarding the greatness in people.
Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to college bound seniors from Taft Union and Maricopa High Schools and to transfer students from Taft College. Scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 each. Applications are available at the schools. Other scholarships are also available to honor former Soroptimist members who are deceased.
Ruby Award
The Ruby Award is given to a woman in our community who has consistently and effectively used her resources, talents and influence to help other women achieve their potential. A monetary award is granted to honor this woman and the recipient is eligible for additional awards through our Sierra Pacific region and Soroptimist International.
Women of the Year
A woman within the club is honored each year for her extraordinary contributions to the club and community.
Young Women of Achievement
A student is selected from Lincoln, Maricopa, Fellows and McKittrick (grades 7 & 8) and from Taft High and Maricopa High (grades 9-12) and Taft College (freshman & sophomore) to receive a special recognition. These are young women who have high scholastic and moral attributes and are leaders in their schools and community. They are honored at a special luncheon.
Live Your Dream
LYD program is a unique education grant for women who provide the primary financial support for their families. The awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.
S I of Taft offers two (2) $500 awards each year. The recipients are also eligible for additional awards through out region and international level.
